Details
Grown just outside Denton, this holy basil, also known as tulsi, comes from Ladybug Lane Veggies’ thoughtfully managed quarter-acre garden, harvested fresh for the week and handled with care.
What makes it different
Holy basil isn’t the same as sweet basil or Genovese basil. It has a more complex, aromatic flavor: lightly spicy, earthy, clove-like, and a little peppery, with a warm herbal depth that makes it especially beautiful in teas, broths, syrups, and infused honey.
Tulsi has been loved for generations as a soothing, ritual-worthy herb, and while we won’t make big wellness claims here, we will say this: it’s one of those ingredients that invites you to slow down a little.
Ladybug Lane grows using Earth-friendly, sustainable practices that prioritize living soil and ecosystem balance over speed or volume. With a herb this aromatic, freshness matters, and you can smell the difference right away.
How we love to use it at home
- Steeped fresh into hot tea with honey and lemon
- Added to iced tea, lemonade, or sparkling water
- Infused into honey or simple syrup
- Tucked into brothy soups, curries, or coconut-based dishes
- Blended into herb sauces or dressings for a warmer, spicier note
- Muddled gently into cocktails or mocktails
This is one of those herbs that feels equal parts kitchen ingredient and tiny pause button.
Storage & freshness tips
Treat it like a bouquet: trim the stems and place in a glass of water on the counter, away from direct sunlight. Like other basils, tulsi can be cold-sensitive, so avoid the fridge if you can.
For best flavor, use within 3–5 days.
If the leaves start to soften, don’t toss them: steep into tea, blend into syrup, infuse into honey, or dry the leaves for later.
A gentle note on practices
Ladybug Lane Veggies isn’t certified organic by choice. Instead of investing in certification, Natalie invests directly in sustainable, Earth-friendly farming practices that go beyond the baseline and focus on long-term ecosystem health.
