A simple, local way food moves from nearby farms to your kitchen
If you’re used to grocery shopping on autopilot, this weekly rhythm might feel a little different.. Slower, more intentional, and (a lot) more delicious.
Here’s how food moves through a week at The Local Markethouse.
Step 1: Shop by Sunday night
You place your order online by Sunday night. No subscriptions required. No pressure to shop every week.
Shopping ahead means you’re choosing food with a clear head - not rushing through a store, not impulse-buying at 6pm.
This also gives our local partners a real signal of what’s needed. This includes farmers, dairies, ranches, and more from Flower Mound to Gainesville, Decatur, Krugerville, Weatherford, Paradise, and more nearby North Texas communities.
Step 2: Local Partners Prep For Your Order
After the weekly cutoff, our local farmers, ranchers, bakers, and makers get to work - harvesting, milking, baking and preparing food specifically for the orders placed.
We don’t pre-pick produce just to have it sit around, getting ‘revived’ later by gases, chemicals, or long storage timelines. We move food as quickly as possible to you.
This is why availability changes week to week, and why the food tastes the way it does.
Step 3: The Midweek Gap (on Purpose)
There’s a few=day pause while food is growing, baking, resting, and being prepared. This isn’t a delay, it’s the point.
Farmers aren’t guessing, food isn’t rushed, and you’re not scrambling. Hopefully you ordered the week prior too and are still drooling over the food from your last pickup, though.
Step 4: Pickup Day (feels like Christmas)
Later in the week, you pick up your order (or receive delivery).
Pickup is designed to be fast and easy… but if you want to linger, you’re welcome to. Each week may look a little different:
- A spotlight on a local partner
- Samples to try
- Ability to add-on to your order
- A chance to learn something new about a food you’re bringing home
Think: less “chore” vibes, and more “small weekly ritual” vibes.
Step 5: Bring it Home & Eat Well
You bring everything home, with the full weekend ahead of you. No grocery shopping to carve out time for, no last-minute meal stress, plenty of time to meal prep (if you wish), and day-dream about the perfect fridgescape you could make.
Just good food ready when you need it, eaten through the week at a pace that actually works for your household.
Want to make it even easier?
Many families choose to subscribe to weekly staples - things like milk, eggs or bread, and add everything else a la carte as they go.
Subscriptions:
- Save 5% on those items
- Can be skipped or cancelled anytime
- Help farmers plan more predictably
Helpful habit, not a commitment.
What a Real Orders Looks Like (for a local family)
Here’s an example of what a weekly order might look like for a family in Flower Mound or nearby.
All weights and quantities are approximate, since this is real food — not factory-perfect portions.

Enough for meals, snacks, breakfasts, lunches, treats — and a fridge that actually makes sense.
