About

What We Are

The Local Markethouse exists to make it easier to eat well, know where your food comes from, and support the people growing it, right here in North Texas.

We connect households directly with nearby farms, ranchers, and food makers through a simple weekly rhythm: shop ahead, food is harvested or baked fresh, then picked up or delivered later that week.

Food should come from people you can know.

Eating with the seasons connects us to a place. And local food isn't just about what's on your plate. It's about who grew it, and why that matters.

Why We Exist

The Local Markethouse grew out of a tension most families know well.

We cared deeply about where our food came from, but like a lot of families, we were juggling full-time work, school schedules, soccer games, and everything else that fills a week. Farmers markets were lovely, but not always realistic. Grocery stores were convenient, but disconnected from the people and practices we wanted to support.

We've long been connected to local farmers and makers doing incredible work, growing food with care, integrity, and respect for the land. And it's no surprise, in today's climate, that reaching customers consistently is one of the hardest parts of what they do. We hear about it all the time. Small farms carry so much, and consistent demand shouldn't be one more thing they have to chase.

The Local Markethouse exists to bridge that gap.

We built it to make local food genuinely accessible for busy households and more sustainable for the people producing it, without sacrificing the values that make local food worth eating in the first place.

Why We Call It a Markethouse

The name is intentional.

Historically, markethouses were community hubs: places where food was grown nearby, sold directly, and shared among neighbors who knew each other. We're building a modern version of that idea, one that fits into today's schedules while staying rooted in local relationships and the honest rhythm of the seasons.

Rooted in CSA Values

Our model is inspired by Community Supported Agriculture, but adapted for real households and real life.

That means no upfront commitment, no mystery boxes, and no pressure to buy food you won't use. You shop week by week, choose what works for your family, and support farmers through a predictable rhythm they can actually plan around.

The spirit of a CSA. Without the rigidity.

Our Standards & Values

We're intentional about who we work with, and we take care to understand how food is grown or made before it ever comes through us.

Not every partner is certified organic. Many small farms practice well beyond what certification requires, but the time and cost of going through that process simply isn't realistic for everyone. What we do require is real: no harsh chemical sprays, no additives, no shortcuts that trade quality for yield. The farms and makers in our network are committed to genuine stewardship of their land, their animals, and the food they produce.

As a whole, we look for:

  • Care for land, animals, and people
  • Transparency over perfection
  • Small-scale, seasonal production
  • Pride in craft and stewardship
  • A willingness to be known

We encourage you to explore each partner's page to learn more about their specific practices, and to ask questions anytime. Our POV: you should be able to ask questions about your food, no matter where you shop.

If it's on our shelves, it's something we'd feed our own families.

Who’s Behind The Local Markethouse

The Local Markethouse is locally owned and operated by Molly and Brandyn, alongside their daughters, from right here in the community.

What started as a practical solution for our own busy household has grown into something bigger: a shared space for farmers, makers, and families who believe food should come from people we actually know.

Thank you for being part of this.
