Cancellation policy
Some items in our store may be offered to you as a subscription, a pre-order or try before you buy. This cancellation policy lays out how you can change or cancel these kinds of purchases.
Subscriptions
Some products (like weekly staples) may be offered as subscriptions.
When you subscribe, you’ll receive repeat deliveries or pickups based on the frequency you select (for example, weekly). Because our market operates on a harvest-to-order schedule, subscriptions follow the same weekly rhythm as regular orders.
Your payment details are stored securely, and you’ll be charged automatically for each fulfillment. Subscriptions should automatically renew until you choose to cancel.
You can update, pause, or cancel your subscription at any time through the link in your order confirmation email or through your customer account. We simply ask that changes be made before the weekly order cutoff (Sunday night) to apply to that week’s market.
Because items are prepared fresh and in small batches, subscription orders cannot be canceled after the weekly cutoff has passed.
For details on refunds or concerns, please see our Returns & Refund Policy.
Pre-orders
Occasionally, we offer items as pre-orders typically for limited, seasonal, or special bulk offerings.
Certain products, including fresh milk, are also structured as pre-orders to comply with Texas regulations. This means your purchase reserves product that will be prepared specifically for you during that week’s market cycle.
When you place a pre-order, you are reserving an item that is not yet available for immediate fulfillment. Because many of our products (including milk) are prepared fresh and allocated based on confirmed orders, quantities are planned in advance.
We may:
-
Collect full payment at checkout, or
-
Collect a deposit and charge the remaining balance once the item is ready
If your pre-order has not yet entered the fulfillment window (before the weekly Sunday night cutoff), you may request cancellation. Once the cutoff has passed and production or allocation has begun, cancellations may not be possible.
This approach allows us to:
-
Comply with state requirements
-
Reduce waste
-
Support small farms with predictable demand
If you have questions about how a specific item works, we’re always happy to explain.
Try before you buy
If we offer a “try before you buy” option (this would be rare and product-specific), your payment method may be authorized before fulfillment.
You’ll have a defined time window to decide whether to keep the item. If the item is not returned within that timeframe, your payment method will be charged in full.
Because most of what we sell is perishable food, this option will only apply to eligible non-perishable items when clearly stated.
A Note About Our Weekly Rhythm
The Local Markethouse operates on a weekly order cycle:
-
Orders close Sunday night
-
Farmers and makers prepare items early in the week
-
Pickup or delivery happens Thursday or Friday
Once the weekly cutoff has passed and items are in production, changes and cancellations may be limited. This allows our farm partners to harvest and prepare intentionally without waste.
If something unexpected comes up, we encourage you to reply to your confirmation email. We value communication and will always do our best to help.
