JMZ Farms
Origin Story & Identity
I started JMZ Farms when I was 12 years old after getting my very first chicken. What began as curiosity quickly became a calling. I fell in love with caring for animals and learning how food is truly produced. Over time, that single chicken turned into a growing flock, and today JMZ Farms operates as a pasture raised egg farm serving families across North Texas. The farm was built on faith, hard work, and the belief that local food matters.
Fun Fact:
I genuinely name many of the hens when I can. It keeps things personal and reminds me that these are living animals, not just production units. I also personally handle deliveries and customer communication, which keeps the connection between farmer and family strong.
What all do you produce?
We produce pasture raised eggs using certified organic feed and regenerative grazing practices. We also partner with trusted local dairies to offer Grade A raw milk to our community.
What are you most proud of producing?
I’m most proud of the eggs. They represent years of refinement in animal care, pasture management, and direct to consumer relationships. The rich yolks and strong shells are a direct result of how our hens are raised.

Philosophy & Practices
How would you describe your growing or land-stewardship philosophy in your own words?
We believe the land is not something to extract from but something to steward. Healthy soil leads to healthy pasture. Healthy pasture leads to healthy hens. Healthy hens lead to nutrient dense food for families.
How does this reflect in your growing practices?
Our hens are raised in mobile chicken tractors that are rotated regularly across pasture. This ensures fresh forage, natural insect control, and even nutrient distribution across the land. We avoid chemicals, pesticides, and unnecessary inputs, focusing instead on regenerative principles.
What’s something about your practices that most people don’t know — but should?
Pasture rotation is not just about animal welfare. It is about soil biology. The chickens fertilize naturally, which feeds the microbes in the soil, which strengthens future plant growth. It is a cycle that benefits the entire ecosystem.
What’s the biggest challenge of raising chickens / producing eggs the way you do?
Weather and predators are constant challenges. Raising birds outdoors requires vigilance. Extreme heat, cold snaps, and wildlife pressure all demand daily attention. But we believe the quality of life for the hens and the quality of the eggs make it worth it. We follow all state requirements for egg handling and sales. Our hens are fed certified organic feed. We operate in compliance with Texas regulations for direct to consumer farm products
Daily Life & Personal Connection to the Work
What’s your favorite part of the work you do every day?
Collecting eggs in the morning. It never gets old. It is a tangible reminder that hard work and proper care produce real results.
What’s your favorite way to enjoy something you grow/raise?
Simple farm fresh eggs cooked over easy with sea salt and sourdough bread. Or chilaquiles with fresh eggs on top. The quality of the yolk speaks for itself.
What are you excited to grow, offer, or dream up for the future of your farm?
We are focused on expanding our pasture raised flock, strengthening regenerative practices, and continuing to build a direct connection between local farms and families. Long term, we want to scale responsibly while keeping quality at the center.
