Trimble Farms

Beautiful Flower Mound blooms with a whole lot of heart.

Origin Story & Identity

How did you get into flower farming, and what’s the story behind your farm?

Flower farming actually found us….the property we purchased in 2020 came to life in the spring of 21 with all of the bulbs the previous owners had planted here. I thought…I wonder if I could grow something too? What started with two tiny beds of zinnias and sunflowers slowly grew into Trimble Farms.

Do you have a fun fact, tradition, or personality quirk that makes your farm uniquely “you”?

I try to remember to “stay in my lane” - to not compare myself to other flower farmers. We all have a unique land to govern, different people to serve, and even a specific microclimate that can be different from someone 15 miles away. We love to sell things at all the price points (including free sometimes!) so everyone can have access to flowers.

What do you grow?

Flowers…..all types and varieties….from February - October.

What are you most proud of growing? Which are your favorites?

I’m most proud of something different every year! Weather, soil, time management, and a slew of other factors make the flowers perform a tad differently every year. I will forever be grateful to the zinnia…it’s the bloom that showed me I could do this. :-)

Philosophy & Practices

How would you describe your growing or land-stewardship philosophy in your own words?

We like to keep things as natural as possible. Fences to keep out critters. Beneficial insects to help with “unbeneficial” ones, and a helpful organic spray whenever I can find the time, energy, and the weather cooperates.

How does this reflect in your growing practices?

Hmmm….same as above I guess.

What’s something about your practices (soil care, animal care, sustainability, etc.) that most people don’t know — but should?

Soil health is the most important thing on our farm - and it is hard won with a lot of work.

What’s the biggest challenge of growing flowers the way you do?

The weather….growing things through the winter is a lot of work and has turned me into some kind of obsessive weather app watcher. Conversely in the summer when triple digits are the norm, the only time of day to work is EARLY morning….most times even before the sun rises.

Daily Life & Personal Connection to the Work

What’s your favorite part of the work you do every day?

I love harvesting. Finally reaping the fruit of all the labor is a fantastic feeling. I also LOVE people telling me flower stories…how our blooms have been a blessing to them or someone they love.

What’s your favorite way to enjoy flower farmings?

I love giving flowers away…..

What are you excited to grow, offer, or dream up for the future of your farm?

I’m excited to move into our newly renovated barn work space! Hoping it will streamline everything we do and enable us to offer more things…..
