Details
Grown just outside Denton, this Genovese basil comes from Ladybug Lane Veggies’ thoughtfully managed quarter-acre garden, harvested fresh for the week and handled with care.
What makes it different
This is the classic Italian basil everyone wants in their kitchen: lush, fragrant, and deeply aromatic with that sweet, slightly peppery flavor that makes tomatoes, olive oil, pasta, eggs, and summer vegetables instantly better.
Genovese basil is especially loved for pesto because of its tender leaves, rich essential oils, and balanced flavor. It’s bold enough to carry a sauce, but delicate enough to tear fresh over a finished dish.
Ladybug Lane grows using Earth-friendly, sustainable practices that prioritize living soil and ecosystem balance over speed or volume. When herbs are grown with that kind of care, you can smell it the second you open the bunch.
How we love to use it at home
- Torn over tomatoes, mozzarella, and good olive oil
- Blended into pesto for pasta, sandwiches, eggs, or roasted vegetables
- Layered into grilled cheese, paninis, or fresh summer sandwiches
- Stirred into soups, beans, or pasta right at the end
- Scattered over pizza, flatbread, or roasted squash
- Blended into basil oil, dressings, or compound butter
This is one of those herbs that makes dinner feel like you tried harder than you did.
Storage & freshness tips
Treat it like a bouquet: trim the stems and place in a glass of water on the counter, away from direct sunlight. Basil is cold-sensitive, so avoid storing it in the fridge if you can.
For best flavor, use within 3–5 days.
If the leaves start to soften, don’t toss them: blend into pesto, basil oil, dressing, or freeze with olive oil in an ice cube tray for easy future cooking.
A gentle note on practices
Ladybug Lane Veggies isn’t certified organic by choice. Instead of investing in certification, Natalie invests directly in sustainable, Earth-friendly farming practices that go beyond the baseline and focus on long-term ecosystem health.
