Details
Cinnamon Rich Syrup from D’Ann Kurhan of Kurhan’s Plant Co. in the Alliance area of North Texas. Warm organic cinnamon and rich cane-sugar sweetness come together in a concentrated syrup made for coffee, tea, cocktails, breakfast favorites, and simple desserts.
Sourcing & practices
D’Ann makes her rich syrups with regenerative organic raw cane sugar and organic or homegrown herbs, flowers, and spices. This variety uses organic cinnamon for a warm, familiar flavor that blends easily into both hot and cold drinks.
Because it is a rich syrup, begin with approximately half as much as you would use of standard simple syrup. Add more gradually until the flavor is where you want it.
What to expect
Ground cinnamon can be difficult to incorporate smoothly into drinks. This syrup delivers its warm spice and aroma without leaving a powdery texture behind.
The flavor is sweet, fragrant, and cozy without being limited to fall. It pairs especially well with coffee, chocolate, apples, vanilla, bourbon, and dark rum.
How we like to use it
Add a small pour to hot or iced lattes, cold brew, chai, black tea, hot chocolate, or apple cider. Use it in an Old Fashioned, espresso martini, or bourbon and rum cocktails.
Outside the glass, drizzle it over oatmeal, pancakes, French toast, baked apples, yogurt, or vanilla ice cream. It can also be incorporated into whipped cream, frosting, and cake glaze.
About the maker
D’Ann’s lifelong gardening story includes childhood garden chores, apartment balconies, a growing collection of organic heirloom seeds, and eventually the creation of Kurhan’s Plant Co.
Her work centers on unusual edible plants, culinary and medicinal herbs, and sustainable growing practices. The syrups allow her to share the flavor and character of those botanicals in a form that is approachable, versatile, and easy to use at home.
